Altro Fortis provides low maintenance solution for new Welsh school

Altro Fortis Titanium, Altro Fortis corner protection

Ysgol Bro Teifi is the first purpose-built Welsh-medium all-through school built in Wales, following an investment of £25m from Ceredigion County Council and the Assembly Government.  Students range from nursery age to Year 13, and teaches children in both Welsh and English.

The school opened in September 2016. As part of the build, Julian James, Managing Director at Julian James Cladding Ltd., recommended the Altro Fortis wall protection system.

Doors and plaster board walls can easily be damaged, be it scrapes and knocks as people pass, or more serious dents and holes caused by wheeled traffic. Altro Fortis Titanium has been specifically designed to protect these surfaces. Altro Fortis Titanium is dense, impervious and resistant to bumps. It features a lightly textured surface, which camouflages scuffs, keeping the wall area looking better for longer.

Available in ten colours, the colour runs throughout, reducing the visibility of knocks or scrapes. With an impervious, easy-to-wipe surface, Altro Fortis Titanium improves cleanability which is a major advantage within its recommended application areas. Altro Fortis Titanium corner protection provides extra protection on a wall’s vulnerable corner.

Julian James said:  “Altro Fortis is quick to install and easy to weld, just like an Altro Whiterock installation.  We have installed Altro Fortis in local hospitals since the Ysgol Bro Teifi installation.  Altro Fortis is great for hospitals and school as it is low maintenance solution compared to painted walls.“

Julian James installed 129 Altro Fortis Titanium wall protection panels.  Since the initial installation, Robert Jenkins, Head of School at Ysgol Bro Teifi was so impressed with the performance of Altro Fortis, that he is working with Julian James to install Altro Fortis wall protection in other areas of the school.

Robert Jenkins said: “Altro Fortis in an excellent product. It looks good and is very robust. We have over 800 pupils in the school and looks as fresh now as it did the day it was installed. It is easy to maintain and we estimate it will save us over £50k in decorating costs over next 10 years.”
