Issue
The main reception and entrance area for Sheffield Children’s Hospital needed a new floor as the old linoleum floor had not worn well, the colour had faded, and it had been damaged by furniture, foot and wheeled traffic. The area is also home to retail outlets selling food and drink, and with visitors and staff treading wet weather conditions into the area, it brings an increased risk of slips and trips to patients, visitor’s carers and staff.
Approach

James said, “Approximately 1200 people per week pass through this area accessing the outpatients’ department, treatment areas, wards, care and surgery areas, laboratories, and restaurant / dining areas so a robust solution was required.”
Solution
