Altro shortlisted for national manufacturing award

Altro have been shortlisted for the next stage in the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards in the ‘Innovation in Products and Processes’ category.

The Manufacturing Excellence Awards was established in 1982 and is widely recognised in the business world for promoting the very best of UK manufacturing. In total, 21 companies around the UK were shortlisted for awards.

Altro will be visited by MX expert assessors and present to a judging panel before the winners are announced at a prestigious ceremony in September.

Richard Kahn, CEO of Altro, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, and for our innovation in products and processes to be recognised. The MX Awards showcase the best examples of manufacturing across the UK.

“The additional benefit of these awards is that it benchmarks us against other manufacturing organisations, unlike some of the other awards we have achieved in the past.”

Christopher Simpson, Chairman of the Manufacturing Excellence Awards Executive, said: “The work of Altro demonstrates the huge skills, innovation and success in UK manufacturing.”

The 2014 Manufacturing Excellence Awards is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with AESSEAL®, The ERA Foundation, Grant Thornton, Lombard, NatWest, Renishaw and WMG and supported by the Department for Business and Innovation, MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service), the MTC, Hexagon Metrology and Power Panels.
