Learn more about how we’re supporting the fight against Covid-19

With the fast-changing COVID-19 situation, we understand what challenging times these are for everyone: for you, your business and your family. As a family business ourselves, our priority is taking care of our colleagues, our customers, partners and suppliers.

We have introduced extra measures across our sites to look after our colleagues and all those who still need to come to our premises in person, including delivery staff: we are promoting social distancing at work; encouraging those who can work from home to do so, including both office and field teams; postponing any non-essential visits and events; implementing more vigorous cleaning regimes; and employing video technology to conduct meetings and customer visits wherever possible.

With this in mind, I wanted to get in touch with you personally to explain what steps we are taking at Altro to continue supporting you with your business.

The Global Altro Leadership Team is meeting daily to consider the latest government guidance in those markets in which we operate. As a global business with local presence, we can respond swiftly to regional customer needs and are structured in such a way that we are able to maintain stock levels and global supplies. I want to reassure you that we are very much open for business as usual and will do everything we can to respond to your individual circumstances.

In the coming days and weeks, we will keep you updated on how we are responding to the evolving situation. You will shortly hear from us about all the different ways you can stay in touch with us, so that we can carry on working together. Should you have any queries whatsoever, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your regular, local Altro contact.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you, your family and colleagues good health and assure you that we are doing everything we can to maintain the excellent level of customer service that you have come to expect from Altro.

With kind regards

Richard Kahn
CEO Floors and Managing Director, Altro Group

Home adaptations

Social care

Home adaptations allow individuals who are disabled, ageing or vulnerable to continue to live in their own homes for longer. This does require, however, homes to be adapted to provide a safe and comfortable environment for them to live in. When houses are adapted, you need to not only consider the needs of the individual now, but in the future. Physical and mental health can deteriorate over time, and to have a familiar environment that does not have to be changed reduces stress and confusion after the house modification.

Altro provide a range of solutions that has colour and design flexibility making the adaptation feel like home. We provide guidance for designing environments to keep people safe, especially those with health issues such as reduced mobility, visual impairment and dementia. It’s all part of the Altro promise.

Safety

More accidents happen at home than anywhere else. That’s why safety should always be an important consideration when adapting a home. Slips and trips can easily happen when floors are wet or there is an uneven surface. With Altro floors, we’ve got that covered. Altro safety floors have been specifically designed to prevent slips and trips. Altro safety floors guarantee to reduce the chance of a slip or trip to one in a million, for the lifetime of the flooring. With some of the longest guarantees in the business, you can rest assured your home adaption will be safe for years to come. With wood look and colourful safety floor choices, we have a look that will fit home design without compromising on safety.

Hygiene

Adaptions that are easy to clean and maintain is an important consideration. Quite often carers are in the workforce or are themselves elderly. Having an environment that is easy to keep clean makes life easier – and safer - for everyone. Surfaces that are impervious and can be washed and even steam cleaned allows the highest levels of hygiene to be maintained.

Altro’s bathroom solution provides a watertight and integrated floor and wall system that is easy to clean and is safe with a number of contaminants such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Altro Pisces, our specialist flooring, is designed to keep you safe in wetrooms, bathrooms, toilets, saunas…anywhere you will come into contact with water. It keeps you safe whether you are barefoot or wearing shoes, so you are safe no matter what you’re wearing (or not!).

Tiles and grouting are porous, making them more susceptible to harbouring bacteria. Tiles chip and crack more easily, allowing dirt and bacteria to collect and hide from cleaners. They can also allow water to reach the substrate, causing damage to walls. Grout lines are particularly vulnerable and even epoxy grout is susceptible. Unlike tiles, Altro safety floors have no grout, giving bacteria nowhere to hide. For kitchens, Altro XpressLay provides an imperious surface that is easy to clean. It looks good, too, and comes in a range of 42 shades to fit in to any existing interior design.

Aesthetics

Altro safety floors and hygienic wall cladding come in a range of colours, from neutral, warm and cool colours to wood look flooring. Our specialist bathroom floor, Altro Pisces, has a consistent, soft appearance, perfect for domestic bathrooms. Available in 16 shades, it gives colour choice to fit into your current interior design. For walls, Altro Whiterock Satins hygienic wall cladding comes in 27 soft shades, giving an array of colour options. Altro XpressLay provides 42 shades and is easy and quick to install, and is recyclable at the end of its life.
